There are many ways of doing the Christmas shopping but one of the best ways for ideas and for ease of use is online shopping. As a busy Staines chiropractor we definitely enjoy what online shopping brings but we do urge a bit of caution for your back.

How to look after your back when doing your Christmas shopping from leading Staines Chiropractor

The temptation can be all too easy to sit on your pc or laptop for hours on end scouring the web for the presents your loved ones deserve. If you do this you can end up with some bad back, shoulder and neck pain.

To help you get through the season we have some useful advice for you when doing the shopping online;

• Sort your space out. Whether you’re on the couch with a laptop or on a desktop computer it is really important you sort your space out. If on a laptop on the couch we advise you to keep this to a short time or move to a desk.
• When on a desk make sure you chair is at the right height off the floor so that your legs bend at 90 degrees. Make sure the top of the computer screen is eye level and that you are sat straight and facing the screen.
• Relax in the chair and make sure you arms are flat with your elbows at desk level.
• Try and use a seat with arm rests.
• Don’t sit for too long. Go make a cup of tea or go for a walk every 30-40 minutes or so.
• Don’t twist your back
• Don’t stress out (ok this one is just a reminder that Christmas is a season to enjoy).
