What shape is your side profile?

Skull and Spine Icon Symbol Concept Flat Design Vector IllustratIt is an important question and one that you may not have thought of before. However as leading Staines Chiropractors we want to emphasis what your side profile can mean.

What’s your shape?

There are a few common postures/side profiles people have;

  • Spoon – flat back, rounded shoulders
  • Leaning tower – head leans forward
  • Bridge – arched back
  • Flat-pack – flat back

Depending on which side profile you have it will determine how much you suffer from neck and back pain. For example those of you with an arched back or with your head leaning forwards are much more likely to suffer with problems than those of you with a flat back.

The aim is to have a neutral side profile where you imagine a straight line running down your back. You want your ears, shoulders, hips, knees and ankles to be on this line and then you know you’ll have a great side profile. If you practice this posture all the time you’re likely to avoid back and neck pain.
