National Walking month is drawing near and we are all behind it. As busy Staines Chiropractor we are big fans of walking and we want you to carry on walking. It is a simple and effective form of exercise that is easy to do and has plenty of benefits.
Walking is good for you
As a leading Staines chiropractor we can stress enough that you can get a lot of benefits from walking. You get all the usual benefits of exercise such as improved cardiovascular performance, a good heart and a healthy body but you also enjoy a good fat burning process and a faster metabolism through regular walks.
As well as that walking is less strenuous on your joints than running for example so it will cause less long term damage to the mechanics of your body.
Another benefit which people might not consider is mental health. A good walk with a good view and a light breeze can clear your mind, it can help you relax and it can really help you be happy.
Walking is an easy change to make
The good news as well is that walking is an easy change to make to your life. This is why as leading Staines Chiropractors we are such big advocates of walking. We often encourage people to keep on walking or to take up more walking as it is an easy change. It is often our job to highlight subtle lifestyle changes patients need to make to improve their condition and walking is just that. It is a realistic life change to expect people to make.
You can do this in all manner of ways; you can park at the back of the car park and get a few extra steps in on the way to the shops. Even better you can walk to the shops.
You can walk to work or if you live too far away, you can take a walk at lunchtime. You can take the stairs instead of the lift or you can walk your dog.
As already stated there are all manner of ways to get more walking in your life and it really is an easy and little change to your life.
If you want more advice on why we advocate more walking as a healthy lifestyle change or if you have back pain, please get in touch and we’d be happy to help.
