Poor posture and a lack of activity can cause you a lot of back pain and the resulting problems that come with it can negatively affect your life. As leading Staines Chiropractors we want you to focus on improving your posture in 2016.
One of the best ways of doing that is through regular strengthening exercises
We start with a simple warm up – Stand straight with your head held high, making sure your ears, shoulders, hips, knees and ankles are in line. Also pull your tummy in.
From the standing position spread your arms and legs out as if you’re about to perform a star jump.
Facing forwards place one hand in the air and the other at your sides. Slowly stretch one arm over your head whilst the other slowly moves down your leg (remember to keep your arms straight and breathe out slowly). Then do the same to the opposite side (repeat twice).
Now you’re back to your star position gently turn your head to one side, looking at one of your hands. Slowly move your hand behind you keeping a straight arm while keeping your eye on the hand. Then change to your other hand and repeat.
